Can Numbers Lie?

Maybe a better way to ask the question is what story are the numbers telling you? Regardless of where you look numbers are used to tell a story. Whether it be the stats of a how a football team performed in a game or over the course of entire season, or how they are used to promote or discredit a company.

Being formally educated as an engineer and a huge sports fan I understand how numbers are used to tell a story. What I also understand is how numbers can be taken, twisted and used to create a story; one that is not a reality but a myth. This is what I want to share here today. It's something that I have seen too many times and we need to help those who don't understand numbers see what they are looking at and of course understand it.
